Swan Lake is coming to Abu Dhabi this October

The famous ballet promises to wow crowds in the capital.

If you thought the UAE had no arts and culture, think again. The capital has added yet another gem to its cultural calendar. Get ready to welcome the internationally acclaimed Moscow Ballet La Classique, who will bring Swan Lake to the stage in Abu Dhabi.

Taking place from 25 to 26 October at the Abu Dhabi National Theatre, this beautiful ballet performance promises to sweep you off your feet. Expect to witness flawless ballet techniques, gorgeous costumes, and mesmerising acts in front of the stunning stage.

As for Swan Lake, it tells the tragic love story of Prince Siegfried and Princess Odette. While on a hunting trip, Siegfried encounters a flock of swans and falls deeply in love with their queen, Odette, who has been cursed to live as a swan.

While Swan Lake is now considered one of the most famous ballets in the world, it wasn’t always this way. Pyotr Ilyich Tchaikovsky first debuted it in 1875, where it was met with mixed reviews. But today, it’s one of the most revered compositions and ballet performances.

This isn’t the first time the Moscow Ballet La Classique has graced the UAE with Swan Lake. In previous years, they have performed in Dubai with a string of successful shows. Earlier this year, they even made their debut in Saudi Arabia and now, it’s Abu Dhabi’s turn to witness the magic.

If you’re looking to fill your cultural calendar, Abu Dhabi Cultural Foundation’s new season will feature a musical production of Tom Fletcher’s There’s A Monster In Your Show on 4 and 5 October, Authentic Flamenco: Daniel Casares on 1 and 2 November, and Sydney Opera House’s Meeting Mozart on 8 and 9 November.
