Open a secret door to the restaurant Kimyona in Riyadh

Sssh – the venue is located behind a hidden door in Al Olaya Complex.

FACT loves a secret restaurant. So, we were excited to uncover a new Pan Asian restaurant in Al Olaya Complex. Kimyona in Riyadh has one of the most unusual entrances we’ve ever seen and is accessible via a hidden door.

Kimyona in Riyadh is open for reservations only. On the outside, the venue appears to be nothing more than a street-side gallery. However, the nondescript door opens up to reveal a secret dining room.

Curious diners will be rewarded with a restaurant inspired by a photographer’s dark room. Here, the art of photography meets the artistry of Asian cuisine in a venue that references black-and-white film, red light exposure, and includes wet photos hanging from the ceiling.

The cosy dining area boasts a minimalist design with textured tiling, wooden tables, and intimate lighting. Drawing inspiration from the intricate art of analogue photography and the process of developing the perfect image, the restaurant uses light and darkness to highlight the beauty of each dish, creating an immersive dining experience.

The name Kimyona is derived from the Japanese word for “curious, incomparable, and excellence,” perfectly reflecting the appeal of the seven-section menu, filled with Pan Asian dishes that are superb for sharing. Highlights include Bang Nang Prawns (SAR 90), Burmese Fermented Tea Leaf Salad (SAR 75), Caramel Chilean Seabass (SAR 300), Mango Jungle Curry (SAR 85), Oxtail Bao (SAR 120), Peking Duck (SAR 270). Plus, desserts range from a Matcha-Misu (SAR 85) to a Yuzu Cheesecake (SAR 70).

Kimyona in Riyadh is open from Monday to Saturday from 7pm to midnight.
