ReFIVE Spa Review: Luxuriate at FIVE LUXE JBR

From parties to peace, the standout spa is home to a hammam, pool and 24/7 gym.  

FIVE Hotels and Resorts is famous for its party spirit, and can be found in Dubai with FIVE Palm Jumeirah Hotel and FIVE Jumeirah Village. Now, it has opened its latest luxury hotel, FIVE LUXE JBR. The brand might not be the first place you think of when it comes to relaxation and rejuvenation, but you’ll be surprised by the new ReFIVE Spa.

FIVE LUXE JBR’s ReFIVE Spa is home to a world of wellness, and offers treatments for the mind, body and soul. Located across the fifth and sixth floors, it brings together treatment rooms, an indoor pool, a rooftop terrace, an outdoor terrace and a 24/7 gym. The venue stands out from other spas, often located in a basement and lacking light. Welcome to a bright and beautiful spa.

The lightbulbs look like works of art, and come in snazzy shapes. The white marble floors and walls add a sleek shine, and are punctuated by brass and gold features. The pretty pink seats in the waiting area add a softer side. Plus, the shelves are packed with products, from Otto oils for massages to bags, headbands and necklaces, which are created by a local designer.

Guests can choose from a range of treatments, including facials, massages, and a hammam experience. The staff is passionate about the place and knowledgeable about every detail. Marina Pavlovic, Spa Manager, explained: “We have a hammam room and do different treatments. We have warm marble and a steam room, which prepares the guest’s skin before we do the treatment.”

FACT booked the ReFIVE Elements, which is a 90-minute salt and crystal massage on a quartz bed. The seamless experience started with a welcome drink and towel, and we could skip the locker room for our own room. Guests can change in the treatment rooms, which span single to double rooms, and contain a shower as well as a toilet. The result: a sense of plush privacy. 

ReFIVE Spa boasts traditional techniques alongside state-of-the-art equipment. Silicone masks are offered, which means you can put your head in the face port without fear of creases. Plus, as it uses its in-house products, it adds exclusivity. 

The Eastern-inspired treatment started with a scent test, as we were asked to pick our oil. What followed was a scrub, wash and massage. The best part was the quartz bed, made up of small sand-like structures. The warm pieces moulded to our skin and put us into a deep state of relaxation. And, thanks to the hot Himalayan stone, our muscles were loosened and we left with soft, smooth skin. 

After the treatment, visit ReFIVE Spa’s adults-only pool. Located on the sixth floor, it has a view looking out onto JBR and is a superb spot to sip tea. On our visit, we spotted a mother and two daughters, which highlights how the brand is expanding beyond Gen Z. Customers are also given the spa’s signature Elements Bracelet, which is a sweet souvenir, especially if you’re a hotel guest.
