Movies in Concert brings orchestral magic to Abu Dhabi

This extraordinary event blends the captivating world of cinema with the soaring power of live orchestral performances.

The Abu Dhabi calendar is already packed with exciting events for the remainder of this year. And while we’re in for a wild end to 2024, next year is shaping up to be interesting as well.

Taking place at the iconic Etihad Arena for two nights only — on 17 and 18 January — Movies in Concert promises a magnificent fusion of film and music. You’ll be able to watch your favourite movies — some classics — projected in front of you while the film’s background score is performed live by the globally acclaimed 21st Century Orchestra and conducted by Ludwig Wicki.

This two-day series will feature four iconic films, each brought to life with breathtaking live performances — and perfect for all ages. 

Frozen: 17 January 2025

On 17 January, Frozen will take over the screens at Etihad Arena. The film’s famous track Let It Go has over three billion views on YouTube making it a hit not only amongst kids but elders as well. So expect to sing your heart out to this song — and Do You Wanna Build a Snowman — along with the live orchestra.

Jurassic Park: 17 January 2025

Taking over Abu Dhabi on the same day is Jurassic Park. This millennial movie that shaped an entire generation will see the tracks from the iconic movie performed live. It’ll send chills down your spine – just like the first time you saw that T-Rex in the movie back in 1993.

The Lion King: 18 January 2025

We’d be kidding if we said this one hasn’t got us excited. The Lion King is coming to life at Etihad Arena as well. Taking place on 18 January, this show will take you back to Simba’s legendary introduction to the Animal Kingdom with Circle of Life, Mufasa’s “fall” and the beats of Timon and Pumba’s Hakuna Matata that became an anthem for a generation — all thanks to Hans Zimmer.

Top Gun: Maverick: 18 January 2025

Movies in Concert promises one classic after another, and the one to close the show is none other than Top Gun: Maverick. Get ready to witness Tom Cruise on screens as Hans Zimmer’s music takes you to the skies.
